The Long Ride Of Roller Shades

Roller shades are taking the design world by storm. Back when the first roller shade was thought of, they were a mess and a big hassle. They were not the big talk in design that they are now. There was nothing about them that made you want to go out and buy some for every room.

Needless to say they didn't come in all the pretty colors that they do today. These window shades have come a long way from what they used to be. Back then, you had to roll them up by hand, and of course roll them back down.... By hand! It was just terrible.

Cooling and heating a home is very expensive, and older homes are even worse. When the summer heat hits, you want to be cool and comfortable in your home. This means that your blinds will probably be shut during most of the day. The problem is, blinds don't shut the sun out completely. The sun's rays are able to peep through the window blinds and is able to make it at least 4 to 5 degrees hotter in your home. That may not sound like 2 much of a difference now, but when that bill arrives, those ten or twenty dollars could have been spent on something else or saved for the next bill to come.

Winter time is exactly the opposite. You want to stay warm and toasty in your home when the weather is freezing. Once again, if you have blinds, this will certainly not happen. The air is able to flow through the cracks in the window and make a 6 to 7 degree temperature change in the home. It costs a lot more to heat your home than it does to cool it. Believe it or not, heat is more expensive than air. Another factor that contributes to this issue is the method that a person heats their home. Oil is no way shape or form cheap.

Privacy is a big issue for a lot of people. Yet again, the solution to the problem is still the same. The window shades can do it all! You may be trying to have a little "you" time and don't want to be bothered.

For the earthy, nature seen. Brown is always the best choice. Add some pebbles with waterfalls somewhere and that will be just great. The earthy tone is simple, not to extravagant or flashy. It's neat, clean, and pure.

Speaking of seeing the home, how about taking a vacation? You have to leave your home at some point in time. These window shades can help you keep your home safe and secure. Not as secure as purchasing a home security system, but it does give outsiders who are looking in the slick impression that someone is home when you are really away at the time.

The next time you feel like your home could use a change, how about investing in some roller shades?
