Closet Ideas For A Kids Room

Any parent knows that children tend to not pick up after themselves. It is the rare child that keeps a neat and clean closet and most time parents have to constantly order their kids to clean up their rooms. It is important that you try to teach your children how to organize their closets and once you do that, many kids will willingly do it on their own.

While some children are naturally neat and pick things up, others seem to like messy rooms and resist all attempts at changing them. If you have one of those kids that loves a mess, you might be in for a long road if you try to teach them to use their closets. Below are some things you might try that may help the process:

You might begin by going through with your kids all the stuff they have. You should decide what things they want to keep and what things they no longer use or want. All the toys, books, and clothes they won't use anymore can then be given to charity.

Having sorted out all the things into two groups, you can then start finding the best spaces for all the things you and your child have decided to keep. Books can be put on a shelf in the closet and if you don't have one you can buy something like a cabinet or look in stores for something similar. Stores now days have lots of closet organization systems that are inexpensive and easy to install.

You might try using a basket for all your child's dirty clothes so that they are not thrown all over the room. You will then be able to know what clothes are dirty which will make it easier for you.

Using a shoe organizer can ensure that the shoes of your kids remain off the floor. If you have a separate area for keeping all your shoes like the entryway or the mudroom it will be easy for you to pick your kid's shoes from there even on busy school mornings. All these little things will help your kids to maintain their closet in an organized way.
