Will a car mp3 adaptor run down the battery if the car?
The mp3 adaptor I use for the car has a light on the back of it and it turns on when its plugged in, but it stays on even if the car is off. Would the mp3 adaptor drain the battery if I leave it in all the time?
The only thing that is an active power-source in your vehicle is any battery; supporting car alarms and your similar accessories - mp3 chargers, cell phone chargers, etc.
I have been left thinking the same thing when I am in my car with it 'turned on', but not actually running. My car-lighter cell phone charger adapter has a BRIGHT blue light on when it's plugged in *with* my car in that state, but blinks off when i take the keys out of the ignition.
So *I'm* thinking, it's best to just pull the car-lighter adapter mostly out of the socket (at least until the light goes off) if I am not using it for anything - solely because I know it's taking my car battery power to make that blue light shine.
Final bit of help: when I remove my cell phone from the active car-lighter charger, I see a difference on the lighting of my car's dashboard illumination system - which is powered by my battery. This leads me to most surely believe the car battery is drained, although incredibly slowly, of power by charging ANYTHING through a car-lighter socket adapter.
