What type of country music do you prefer?
The older stuff(Willie, Waylon, Hank Jr.,Johnny Cash), or the newer stuff(Dierks Bently, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood); and what is your age range(teen young adult...).
I am 19 and I prefer the older stuff and I'm wondering if this is unusual for somebody my age.
90% of the newer stuff isn't Country. Few exceptions being The Dixie Chicks (before Country banned them and played Rascal Flatts, the irony), Josh Turner, Alan Jackson, George Strait, sometimes Gretchen Wilson, Martina McBride, Joe Nichols, and Dierks. I'm 20 and I totally prefer Country as opposed to the stuff they call Country (in name only) nowadays. Especially the stuff from the 50s and 60s. My favorites are Hank, Patsy, Loretta, The Possum, Faron Young, and Merle Haggard. I also love Ernest Tubb, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Marty Robbins, Kitty Wells, Johnny Horton, etc. That stuff can't be beat. I do think it's unusual for people our age, which is sad. I was lucky in that I was introduced to a bunch of different kinds of music when I was little and what my grandparents listened to is what clicked. I used to get in fights with my friends about what was better, what I liked or N*SYNC and all that bubblegum garbage. I did (& still do) think they were nuts. I was so little (like 7 or 
and would know these singers and songs from back then and adults would say how do you know this stuff, it's even before our time. Well I can't sing or play so I guess God gave me a good ear, lol. Its the same with R&R for me, only the "oldies" (and real R&R), Elvis, The Beach Boys, Sam Cooke, etc.. Country is #1, though and I'll fight this stuff they're passing off as Country til the day I die. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with good taste, lol
